People need second chances. Leaders need to understand these fundamental concepts when guiding a team. Your people will screw up. It’s not a question of if, but when.
Once they do, the way you handle the mess up just may be the biggest challenge you face as a leader. Condemnation and ridicule won’t get you very far. Instead, consider the graceful ways you can help someone save face and redeem their reputation.
In this episode, my guest, Dr. Joseph Bucci, helps us understand the dynamics of second chances.
Dr. Joseph J. Bucci’s career has spanned many seasons and roles, including pastor, author, human resources director, director of training, professor, and consultant. Bucci’s favorite roles are being a loving husband of 40 years to his wife, Debi, and a loving father of five amazing adult children. Bucci’s first book, called Redemptive Leadership, was published in 2016. His new book, Redemption Inc.: Why Offering Second Chances Makes Good Business Sense, was published in 2022.
